Seriously, why does the title of EVERY Kanye West album reflect how my life is/was at that moment?!?!?
The College Dropout - This, the greatest Kanye album to date, was the embodiment of Marvin Hudgens during my early years of college. Not (really) wanting to drop out, but feeling like a middle child of the suburbs. Not poor enough to be hood, and not rich enough to not be black. Kanye said so much to what I was (and still am at parts) going through and how I feel about: materialism, voting, employment, etc. To really know how I felt, see: Spaceship, All Falls Down, & Never Let Me Down.
Late Registration - My least favorite album, but still better than 90% of rap and for me, the title spoke to the fact that I was not taking school seriously because around then I figured out that I wanted to be a filmmaker and it became my Addiction.
Graduation - This album came out during my last year at MSU while I was nervous about graduating & poor, I couldn’t help but think to myself, “wait till I get my money right..”
808s & Heartbreak - Looking back seems weird to say since this album doesn’t feel that old, but my life was filled with so much from hating to losing my job, to my sine graph of a relationship; this was just a time for me where I was many days heartbroken about life, love, and wondering how did Kanye try something new and yet still be so good?
Good Ass Job - My current employment situation, and what I plan on having again whenever I leave my current one.
